Performance Automation Solutions, Inc. was founded in 2009 by an executive team that built its expertise inside the control systems division of one of San Diego's largest mechanical contractors. That foundation gave us something most BAS companies lack: a genuine understanding of how buildings work from the mechanical side out.

We started with three employees and a clear purpose — to deliver building automation systems with the same rigor and accountability as the best mechanical contractors in the region. By 2022, that team had grown to over 50 professionals, executing projects that range from individual service calls to multi-million dollar control system installations.

Approximately 80% of our projects use a design-build delivery model. This isn't just a contracting preference — it's a strategic advantage. By owning both the design and the construction, we can prioritize trade coordination at the earliest stages of a project, surface scope gaps before they become change orders, and provide real value engineering solutions rather than just cost reductions.

For plan-and-spec projects, we coordinate with mechanical contractors pre-bid to identify scope ambiguities and reduce execution risk — bringing the same systems-level thinking to traditional delivery methods.
